People say the young today don’t care about anything. All they want to do is play video games. They aren’t interested in getting involved in politics. They aren’t trying to improve the world for those who come after them. Altruism is dead. They simply want to be entertained.

But now we have evidence of at least one young Canadian man who proves this stereotype to be incorrect. He is out protesting for something that could benefit Canadians for generations to come.

Notice the keen insight that it is President George Bush who is causing us to have to pay for our beer. I don’t recall this being a campaign issue, but Senator Kerry missed a winning platform position here. Had Kerry made it clear that if he was elected president, we would no longer have to pay for beer, that could have easily put him over the top.

Instead of the ambiguous slogans of “Stronger at home; more respected abroad”, and “Hope is on the way”, Kerry should have made it clear exactly what the cause for the strength, respect and hope. He should have adopted this young man’s slogan. “Free beer!”
